SSL Certificate Settings deleted for Port : 0.0.0.0:50106

Hi

We have installed Backup Exec 2012 on SBS2011Std.  Every time the Backup Exec Managment Service is started (such as after a server reboot) a warning "Event 15300 SSL Certificate Settings deleted for Port : 0.0.0.0:50106" is generated in the Windows System Log, this is followed by "Event 15301 SSL Certificate Settings created by an admin process for Port : 0.0.0.0:50106"

The server is Standard Edition installed out of the box and fully patched.

For other aplications we would simply bind the service to a specic IP address in IIS7 and sopt the error, but the Backup Exec Managment Service is not listed in IIS7.  How do we stop this error?

So it looks like the poster took a shotgun approach and posted anything...angry

Any reason why you would need to bind services (sorry, but I don't know IIS at all). Have you run a repair of Backup Exec through Add/Remove Programs to see if this sorts out things?

I've also hit the support flag, seeing as how BE 2012 is so new, and this is the first time I have seen this crop up in the forums...

...do that. The support flag has been raised on this too, but you might have better luck logging the call.

No we never did , as you will see above despite 3 months nobody could provide an answer, and to be honest we didn't have the time to go through the "support" system,

Whenever Backup Exec Management service is restarted it will bind port 50106 with the Backup Exec SSL certificate. If it is already binded it will remove the certificate and rebind it. Hence you are seeing these events in Windows System log.

This is in no way releated to IIS and to my knowledge this is due to the way the APIs work to bind the port.

Backup Exec's New feature "Virtual Machine Auto Recovery" which is part of Backup Exec Management Plug-in 2.0 for VMware uses this port, for more information on this feature refer - http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH186033
