dears

i have netbacup 6.0mp4 on t2000 server and client 6.0MP4 otn v880 , the client had three database and two network card eri 172( hosname erp) and ce0 192 (hostname erp-bkp) the same isuue on t2000 bge0 192 (hostname backupsrv) bge1 172 (hostname backupsrvpublic)

172 on switch and 192 to another switch

rman script build on erp-bkp

now ce0 become fail as network card then i put the aiasname (erp-bkp) on eri0 172 amd make succfully configuration in bp.conf as client and master server

when i run manual backup for the server get status code 6

Why don't you configure IPMP on Solaris? Without IPMP, you need to switch backup script, backup policy, and maybe bp.conf to handle NIC switching.

If you will do without IPMP, you need to do following tasks.

  • Prepare two backup policies for each database.
In one policy, backup client must be specified as erp-bkp. And in another policy, erp.
  • Prepare two backup scripts for each database.
In one script, NB_ORA_SERV is set to backupsrv, and NB_ORA_CLIENT is set to erp-bkp. NB_ORA_POLICY must be set to which has erp-bkp as backup client.
In another script, NB_ORA_SERV is set to backupsrvpublic, and NB_ORA_CLIENT is set to erp. NB_ORA_POLICY must be set to which has erp as backup client.
  • You may need to switch two bp.conf.
In one, REQUIRED_INTERFACE must be set to erp-bkp. And in another, REQUIRED_INTERFACE must be set to erp.
To switch two bp.conf, you have to replace bp.conf in oracle DBA's home directory. Or, prepare two DBA users who has each bp.conf, and switch user to run backup script depending on network condition.

thanks yasuhisa

when run usr/openv/netbackup/bin/jbpSa and run tpl script the template give me when i finish (cannt connect the socket ,althoug i check by command ./bpclntamd -ip and -hn is connected

i think to make script in client as you told me and make master server in policy to run it

please, can you help me how to do it?

Sample script is placed under /usr/openv/netbackup/ext/db_ext/oracle/samples/rman. Copy and modify it to fit your environment.

By the way, I say again - why don't you use IPMP?
The method I mentioned is too much complicated and painful. You should use IPMP as far as you can.

i set IPMP group on master server (backupsrv) also not connect , i  will to set aggregation network

Sorry, I have to ask you this first - these two networks are in same subnet? If not, you can not configure IPMP between 172 network and 192 network.

But, IPMP is better solution for network redundancy, and you should not try to manage it at application level. Unless you have no free NIC, it is better to configure additional NIC on backup network, and configure IPMP with them.

as i told you  these two networks are in diffrent subnet, how to add additional NIC , whtas do you mean?

Yasuhisa Ishikawa's picture

You have never mentioned about subnet. What you told is merely number and physical wiring.

This is basic question - why do you want to switch over NICs? It is to improve availability against NIC failure, I believe.
So, why don't you configure IPMP with multiple NICs on same subnet? It is not a good idea to manage NIC failure by switching client name, backup script and backup policy. As i wrote, you should not try to manage NIC failure at application level.

For detail babout configuring additional NIC and IPMP, please check Solaris doc or ask to OS team.
