Still infected virus count not changed

This issue has been solved. See solution.
A windows XP machine reported an infection almost a month ago for a file on a memory stick. Under the Home Page (SEP 12.1Ru1Mp1) >> Virus and Risks Acitivity Summary >> Still infected count has remained for this machine.
It last ran a scan 2 days ago and yet this file has only been detected but no "Action" was done to this file. The machine is at a remote location and user
does not have the memory stick anymore.
How can I clear the infected status manually for this machine only?

This is only valid for SEP 11 and not SEP 12.
Not so much as a solution than a change in SEP 12.1
