  • 1.  Still outdated and virus definition is disabled on Mac OSX

    Posted Sep 06, 2015 09:43 PM

    Hi All,

    Good day.

I am having an issue regarding SEP client on Mac. I already use a manual patch downloaded at Symantec website but still definitions show as outdated and Virus and Spyware definition shows as disabled. Also when I click Live\Update on SEP client on mac, I always get an error (see 2nd image below)

Btw, I am using SEPM 12.1.4 mp1b and the SEP client 12.1.6 for Mac OSX.

    Kind regards,

Have you tried just re-installing the client?

Not yet. Btw, is the SEP 12.1.6 client for mac is just 22mb in size? Because I just notice that SEP 12.1.4 client for mac is way too big than 12.1.6 which is 200mb+.

    Thanks and regards.

    Hello,

Make sure you are using the Latest version of SEPM when installing the Latest version of SEP for MAC.

Secondly, make sure you have enough disk space on the machine.

Usually, when manually updaing the client, it take a little while for update.

So it could be the versions of my SEPM and SEP client? I am using SEPM 12.1.4 and SEP client for mac I use it 12.1.6.

Since 12.1.4 isn't compatible with Yosemite, what are the other things I can do so SEP 12.1.6 client will still get update from SEPM 12.1.4 rather that upgrading my SEPM 12.1.4 to 12.1.6? Thanks

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Symantec community. I would be glad to answer your query.

The Intelligent Updater cannot be used with Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.4 and later.

Refer this guide: Unable to use Macintosh Intelligent Updater with Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.4

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH214386

MAC Can be updated either from a Symantec LiveUpdate server, an internal LiveUpdate server.

SEPM does not host or provide Macintosh definitions at this time.

The SEPM cannot host Macintosh LiveUpdate content the same way as it does for Windows clients. As of SEP version 12.1 RU6 the SEPM can be configured as a reverse proxy for downloading and caching the latest Macintosh LiveUpdate content. All Macintosh updates otherwise must otherwise occur through LiveUpdate, either from Symantec's servers or from an internal LiveUpdate server using LiveUpdate Administrator (LUA). Please see Using the LiveUpdate Administrator 2.x to download updates for Symantec Endpoint Protection for Macintosh for information on how to configure LUA for this content. Note: it is not recommended or supported for LUA and SEPM to be on the same physical server.
