Storage EXEC 5.3 problem when sending quota alerts

Created: 14 Apr 2005 • Updated: 22 May 2010 | 1 comment

I have a strange problem with Veritas Storage EXEC 5.3.

Evrything is working , just one problem :-(

When a user's folder reached 90%, the user gets an e-mail ( this is normal and is working fine )
When the same user is opening a files ( Office file in my case ) do some changes on the file, and then save's it again, the users receives AGAIN a mail that the quota is reached.

Seems silly to me , that a user is receiving a message when saving a modified file that is extually allready on that server.

before we used " Quota Manager from NTP " and that product is not having such problem.
I expected something more from veritas.

Also ... I changed the parameter in HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\QAFilter\Parameters, called "MessageThrashTime" to 100 (10 seconds)

Still the same problem.

annybody ????

this could be because when he opens the file for example *.doc file a temp file is also created in the same folder... which takes the quota usage above 90%... and when the user saves the file the file is saved and the temp file is deleted and the quotausage comes back below 90% again..

my 2 cents
