Morning All,

We are a prdominately Office 2003 site but we have upgraded a small number of PC to Office 2007 - on the server we are using Enterprise Vault 8 SP3 for mailbox archiving..

Strange problem here - the PC's that have Office 2007 (SP2) install can read archived if the client on the PC is from the Enterprise Vault 2007 disk but if I upgrade it to EV8 or EV8SP3 clent the archived email opens in the browser instead of in Outlook and give a permissiona error.

Any help would be apprecaited.

Many thanks

Pat

Can you share with us a client trace with maximum logging enabled?

I would suggest you go back to a v8 sp4 (not just cause you missed it on your list) and troubleshoot from there. The V9 client might not be fully ready for release yet.

Just downloaded the EV8SP4 client and installed it and it works fine with that - wonder if theres goint to be a problem when we go to EV9 though

Hmm, an issue was fixed EV 8 SP 4 whereby items that were in vault cache weren't retrieved from vault cache, they were downloaded again from the server.

However..  It doesn't appear that your client trace is showing that.

Essentially it's missing the call to ViewItem, which should be happening after this :

On my machine I have ViewItem function calls then.

The code inside ::Display is a little complex, and would be something that would need additional debug tracing adding to the client (as I can't reproduce the issue here).

I see you have things working with EV 8 SP 4.. which is good, but you're talking to an 8 SP 3 server, so an 8 SP 3 client should work.
