Hi,

I am new to BackupExec. We are a R&D testing lab. We need to keep our data for ever. I am trying to figure out a strategy to backup our existing data of about 600 GB, along with additional data as time progress's. We could go for a week with no new data, and then add to it daily for a month or two, etc.

Our setup is Backup Exex 2012 SP3, on Windows Server 2008R2, with a LTO-6 tape library.

Thanks,

Lee

You can trying doing full and incremental backups, but bear in mind that for this scheme you need to restore the full backup plus ALL the subsequent incremental backups when you need to restore something.

If you are aware of the period when you would be adding new data, then do a full backup just before this period.

...just do FULL backups every night and physically write-protect the tapes along with an extended Overwrite Protection setting.

Thanks!
