    Hello.

My mother is a teacher with a school-issued Dell Latitude D531 (for working at home), which has Symantec Endpoint Encryption Full Disc Edition 7.0.4 (everything including this was preinstalled).

Usually, it starts after the dell message and loads ect... then windows starts up.

But, since about 24 hours ago it now stays at:

"Starting Symantec Endpoint Encryption - Full Disc Edition 7.0.4

     Please wait..."

And no matter how long it is left there (tried up to 30 minutes) it just stays like that. Usually it is there for just a few seconds...

    This is very annoying.

Is there any way to contact this without sending it in to the school for repair? We have no acess to any installation/boot discs.

I was hoping there might be a shortcut key to disable SEE starting? *looks hopeful*

I am not an expert on SEE, but this KB may point you in the right direction.

This KB may apply as well -

Error "Volume files contains errors" displayed when booting a SEE encrypted client machine.

Well, it explains the PROBLEM, it just offers no actual solution.

Basically, I'm looking for a keyboard shortcut to bypass it...

Unfortunately, I doubt the solution will be that easy. I recommend getting your IT department involved.

    Good luck,

If there was a way to bypass the encryption, there would be no point having encryption!

Your IT people will need to look into it.
