Server Upgrade

Hi Paolo,

We added a new pair of servers to our system today to help provide better response times to our users.

Are you still getting the duplicate notifications?

We're digging through the logs to see if we can understand what might have caused this.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,
to be honest , after these duplicate messages I disabled all notifications.

Now I enabled again all my notifications and I will see what happens,

Thanks and regards,
Paolo

Hi Kevin, I have also

Hi Kevin,

I have also experienced this. I logged in yesterday to find 2600 emails from four different threads.

Best,
Thomas

Guess I was lucky...

...I only had a few duplicates, like 4 from a single thread.  Could it be that if I have subscriptions on certain topics, as well as Groups, etc that it sends a notification for each "subscription" instead of just one for the actual post I care about?

Thanks,
Kyle

Notifications Fixed

I think we have the Notifications issue fixed.

Posting here to see if I am notified in an efficient manner (and with only one email).

Subscribed to Partner Group Notifications

Hi Joacim,

I just checked your subscriptions (profile page > notifications tab > subscriptions) and can see that you are subscribed to receive notifications from posts to the Partner Group.

If you would like to cancel those subscriptions, you can check the checkbox next to each and use the drop-down selector to "delete subscriptions"

Hope this helps.

Kevin

Intended behavior?

Kevin,
I'm still seeing some "oddness" around subscriptions.  For example, here is a message I received last night:

Greetings, KSchroeder.
These are your messages

I don't particularly need to receive 3 links to a single comment update.  I would guess that I have subscriptions to the "Symantec Connect", "Inside Symantec", and "this post" categories...regardless it is  quite annoying and makes it difficult to dig through a larger update with dozens of links (plus they tend to be all jumbled together without breaks in between the various threads).  Is it just something with how I have configured my subscriptions, or something else?  Can this be looked into next?

Thanks,
Kyle

New Issue

Hi Kyle,

I've started receiving similar notifications. And yes, it's annoying.

To fix the problem we had earlier this week, we had to reallocate some memory (no code changes) to allow the mailer to work properly. The fact that we didn't make any code changes makes this new bug particularly annoying.

And, yes, we're continuing to work on the "spacing" in these emails. (A little space between paragraphs would make them much easier to read.)

An issue we're dealing with in that realm is the use of a rich-text editor to enter forum posts. By default, the rich-text editor adds HTML and line endings to the comments which is making our efforts to format the plain-text emails with any predictability quite a chore.

We'll keep working on these issues.

Kevin
