This issue has been solved. See solution.

I am currently setting up a new server to be used as my backup server.  This server will be running windows 2012 and has 5 X 450Gb SAS 15k drives in it and my backups will be writing to a tape library that is attached to this server.  My question is: is there a recommended Raid configuration to optimize this backup server?

Hi,

Nope...RAID5 will give you adequate protection, very good disk space to use. I'd personally go with RAID5 in this case if these drives will host a B2D.

Thanks!

Thanks Craig.

I had it set up in RAID 5 but wasnt sure if there were recommendations to set it up differently.  Currently I am backing up to a tape library and will continue this for now but eventually I will probably be doing B2D later on when I can get an external array and sufficent disk space to do so.  Thanks for your help.
