I am planning on using a Seagate STT3401A tape drive in combination with Backup Exec and have had a search around and cannot see if this is a  supported tape drive.  Does anyone know or have any experience with this drive?  I am planning to use the latest version of Backup Exec.  Any help much appreciated -thanks.

Support for Seagate STT3401A tape drive

This drive is not on the Hardware Compatability List (HCL). A Symantec technician would not be able to provide troubleshooting assistance for this device.

This does not mean that the device will not work, however, it does mean that the device has not yet been tested.

The HCL can be found here;

Just to clarify a bit more on

Just to clarify a bit more on what Jon said,

That drive used to be supported. It was end-of-lifed when BE 12.0 was released. It is documented in the 12.0 HCL. So if you want support, you would need to use BE 11d. If you are brave and don't need support, it probably still works in newer versions of BE. That is an older drive with limited capacity and the IDE interface with tape drives was never ideal.

If this response answers your concern, please mark it as a "solution"

Thanks

Thanks both for your help.  I had checked the HCL and could not see it there but had seen it mentioned elsewhere so thank you for the information.  I would prefer to go with the latest version than go with an earlier one so hopefully it will work (I will keep my fingers crossed).
