Support for Solaris branded Zones in VCS 6.0

The 5.1 Veritas Storage Foundation and High Availability Solutions Virtualization Guide had a section:

Storage Foundation and High Availability Solutions support for Branded Zones

But this has been removed in 6.0, but the doc still says:
Each chapter in this guide presents information on using a particular Oracle
virtualization technology with Veritas products. These chapters follow:

■ Storage Foundation and High Availability Solutions support for Solaris Zones
■ Storage Foundation and High Availability Solutions support for Solaris Projects
■ Storage Foundation and High Availability Solutions support for Branded Zones

and on the next page it says
Veritas Storage Foundation and High Availability Virtualization Solutions includes
support for non-global and Branded zones, Projects, and Oracle VM Server for
SPARC.

But the 6.0 release notes say:
Solaris 8 and Solaris 9 branded zones are no longer supported for SFHA
configurations in this release.

So as 6.0 does not support Solaris 11, I believe this means branded zones are not supported at all in 6.0

However, later patches to 6.0 support Solaris 11, which means Solaris 10 branded zones MAY be supported - can you please clarify.

Hi Mike,

Your understanding is correct.

Solaris 8/9 branded zones are NOT supported in VCS 6.0 onwards.

VCS 6.0PR1 release added support for Solaris 11. 6.0PR1 does support solaris 10 brand zone on Solaris 11 system.

I will check the 6.0 docs and make any changes required.

Thanks for pointing this out.

Thanks and Regards,

I have now looked at 6.0 PR1 "Veritas Storage Foundation and High Availability Solutions Virtualization Guide" and Solaris 10 branded zones are supported in Solaris 11, it looks as though situation is:

5.1 - VCS supports Solaris 8 and 9 branded zones

6.0 - VCS does not support ANY branded zones (and so 6.0 SFHA Virtualization Guide is wrong)

6.0 PR1 - VCS supports Solairs 10 branded zones
