This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi,

I'm trying to import a layer in SVS 2.1. The import aborts with erroo code 28.

Detail message of my german installation of SVS: "Fehler beim Extrahieren der Schicht aus dem Archiv. Der Importvorgang wird abgebrochen. Fehlercode 28"

I googled for the error code and tried some hints, but the error still exists.

The error has something to do with DynaZip, used within SVS.

I exported the layer from a german WinXP isntallation and try to import it on a english WinXP installation.

I checked and tried the following things:

- enough free space

- sufficient user rights (tried as WinXP admin)

- sufficient right for file access

- updating to the latest .NET version

- ensure that no absolut path is longer than 255 characters

- with 7-ZIP I am able to open the archive / WinZIP aborts without any significant message

What can I do?

Does anyone has another hint?

Can I found any detailled error message or log entry? Where?

Regards and thanx for your help!

I suspect it has something to do with the naming of the directories....

Make a copy, and remove any user specific info from the RW layer, the ntry again.

Cheers

Phil

Is there an extremely long path in the archive?

Yes, some long path was the problem.

This is fixed in the new SWV 6.1 product. DynaZIP has been replaced with a newer, better compression library that eliminates a number of issues, including path length limitations.
