SVS 7.5 & vSphere 5.1

Created: 11 Aug 2013 | 7 comments

Hello

I'm having a hard time virtualiszing vSphere 5.1 under SWS 7.5 / Windows 8.

Basically the install stalls (with "installing vSpher client help") and never completes (or at least not within any reasonable time frame).

Any info / suggestion most welcome :)

You are trying to virtualize a hypervisor inside of Workspace Streaming?  I don't believe that that you can do that.  We do ours in reverse.  We use vSphere 5 and inside our VM Guests we virtualize Workspace Streaming.

err no no vSphere client is just the GUI to manage the hypervisor (basically start / stop / configure the VMs). It doesn't do any virtualisation itself.

So the capture process never completes?  It sounds like you might have to try doing a global capture rather than a single program capture.  It's possible a process is still hanging onto something ala how Java might not end or a a service gets started, but doesn't shut down.

Well it's not the capture that doesn't finish but the actuall install itself, strangely enough...

Zorino, its a known issue since vSphere client has driver.  We don't support virtualizing drivers at this level.

We got a Support ticket & Enhancement Request open to fix this issue.

oh ok - wasn't aware of that (ie. that vSphere was installing a driver and that this was a known issue).

Just for my information is there a knowledge base I could have found this info ?

No, but its a good idea to write an article on this.  I will keep you posted with KB link ASAP.
