  • 1.  SWG 5.0 Virtual Edition - Need Root Password for Maintenance

    We have Symantec Web Gateway 5.0 Virtual appliance running for a few weeks now and this morning traffic users began compaining about the internet not working. SWG is currently setup in proxy mode and when I checked the console via the VMWare vSphere client there were errors and the web interface would not respond. Upon restart of SWG we receive a failure during the boot process.

     

    unexpected inconsistency: run fsck Manually

    An error occured during the file system check

    Give root password maintenance

     

    Can someone tell what this password is?

    What you'll want to do is ring into Support, they'll be able to provide assistance with the problem.

    Well that's a great advantage of running virtual, certainly easy to build a new appliance and get it back online quickly. :)
