The SWG is configured and running OK all day long.
Every night, the SWG stop blocking pages.

No information about monitoring and blocking is appearing in the custom reports.
No error messages or warnings are being shown in the SWG.

Rebooting the appliance is not fixing the problem.
The only confirmed solution is restoring an old backup of the SWG with all the rules and configurations, but with different IP addresses.
After restoring the backup, the SWG works fine all day long until the 1:00 or 2:00 AM.
The SWG is a Dell appliance 8450 Rev 1 with version 4.5.4.9 and is working in Tap Monitor mode with 400 Users aprox.

Normally I would recommend you open a ticket with support but you have already done so for this issue. Your case is being worked on an the issue investigated by our engineering team.

Was there ever an answer as to why this is happening?

Our Web Gateway seems to randomly block all access to the web for upto 20minutes then reboots itself with no error messages and no reason why.  We run on the same platform as VBAL.  The only problem I can find at present is the time server cannot connect, this has been fixed and I am waiting for the next problem reboot.

Please contact Symantec Support and start a new case, this issue will likely need more investigation than we can do via the web forums.

This may be completely wrong, but I noticed yesterday after the last reboot that the Web Gateway was unable to contact the time server.  This was resolved and there have been no reboots since.  The box would reboot anytime within 6 hours of the last reboot, so 25 hours clean running makes it look like time server problems.  I will update this if the reboots start again.

A Case was opened 8th Dec and there is still no real resolution except that the web gateway and external proxy seemed to be playing ping pong with the block page messages, which quadrupled the amount of traffic and locked up the web gateway.  We have since started using the Web Gateway as a proxy, doing away with the external proxy and have had no more problems.
