SWS and AntiVirus
Created: 25 Feb 2012 | 2 comments
Hi!
Is it necessary or recommended to make some AntiVirus (Symantec EP) exclusions for SWS/SWV? When yes which one?
Are there any performance differences? We will use it on Citrix XenApp as well.
Thank you!

Hello,
Workspace Streaming requires some configuration to operate with antivirus and security products. Since Workspace Streaming delivers file segments as the user needs them, many of the files that are created by Workspace Streaming are not complete files. This can cause problems with applications that scan the file system routinely, such as antivirus and security products.
To prevent performance and other problems with these applications, you should configure how these applications access streamed files.
Configuring file system access for antivirus and security products
Products that scan the file system routinely, such as antivirus and security products, should be added to the Workspace Streaming Agent no access list. If adding a product to the no access list results in poor performance or undesirable behavior, processes can be added to a see through list. The see through list lets
processes access the nullified blocks on the file system that were created by Workspace Streaming. The see through list should be used sparingly.

For SWV you can add the running processes to SWS ProgramIgnoreList registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\FSLX\Parameters\FSL

Thanks as always Bala. I can't wait to try out these fixes and see if it helps with our past issues regarding Trend Micro.
