HI everyone,

as Mp1 is now out I tried it directly on the RTM version of Windows 7, and it is not working like promised...allthough the release notes say they do not support Windows 7.

I just created an empty layer where I put in one registry key which should appear under the HKLM/Software hive. When I activated the layer I do not see any key.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Windows 7 Support

Hi Marco,

The agile design methodology that we use can make this a little bit confusing.  SWV will actually have Windows 7 support in SP1, which should be out in the next month or two (this is not a forward looking statement and should be considered as such, as I have no influence on this).

Hope that helps.

There's no current release

There's no current release date for SP1 and there's no promise as to when it will be out.

Also if the release notes say we don't support Windows 7, and it doesn't work on Windows 7, how are we breaking a promise?  No one ever said MP1 would support Windows 7 especially since there are several months until that OS is released.

Windows 7 was released to TechNet subscribers last week

I've been running the RTM version of Windows 7 64-bit since it was released to TechNet subscribers and MS Volume Licensees last week.

While the Consumer release date is Oct 22nd, larger companies typically have access to MS software long before the general public. This enables us to start our learning and testing before it is generally available.

Very anxiously waiting for SWV availability, in any form, for testing.

George
