  • 1.  Syamntec End Ponint Protection doesnot update the client

    Hi,

    I have installed my client computers Symantec End point protection11.0 as unmanaged client, after live updates i can see the Engine still not downlaoded lattest updatates(Updates show 2008 and 2010 not 2011), Our main office have SAN agriment with symantec and we recieved the antivirus throught it, does i need to register again this product? i dont recieve any serial number for this product rathar than RTSM ID/Support ID, SAN number , customer number.

    and there is one seriel number which license portal does not accept.

     

    Please advise me

    how is the liveupdate configured? is it hosted somewhere? 

    does this unmanaged client have internet access.

    start-run type Luall.exe? where does it connect to

    try doing a SEP repair from add/remove programs, it should download

    Hi,

    It's unmanaged clients means they will take update directly from Internet. Make sure you are able to access following Internet website successfully.

    liveupdate.symantecliveupdate.com

    liveupdate.symantec.com

    update.symantec.com

    akamai.com, if you are not able to access these sites add them as a trusted site.

    After running liveupdate are you getting any error ? if yes please share error/error code.

    As per your comment "Our main office have SAN agreement with Symantec and we received the antivirus thought it, does i need to register again this product?" - No, you will not have to register it.

    It's confirmed that problem is not happening due to license issue, it's related to clients connectivity.

    First and the foremost important thing SEP doesn’t require license to work, so rule out that possibility .

    Navigate to http://www.symantec.com/business/security_response/definitions/download/detail.jsp?gid=n95

    And download 20110313-002-v5i32.exe| FTPand run the exe on the client and see if that works?

    What is the exact version of SEP? If some clients are showing 2008 definitions after installing, I'm concerned the build may be as old as MR1 (11.0.1000). You will want to ensure you're using the most recent version of SEP, which is 11.0.6200.
