  • 1.  Sylink Replacement Failure

    Hello,

    I am using SEPM 12.1 RU2. I am trying to replace sylink through communication package update deployment.

    But Sylink replacement is getting failed on some clients.

    can i know the possible reasons for it.

    i am not having password protection for clients.

    i am successfully authenticating the clients systems.

    Have you checked windows firewall and UAC disabled on these machines?

    Windows firewall is disabled.

    and i am successfully authenticating the client system.

    The usual suspects for a failed remote push are described in the below article:

    The most common causes for it to fail are:

    • Firewall blocking connections
    • Remote Reg service is not started
    • Admin$ access is unavailable

    May be the id which you have used for deployment is not havins adimn access.

    If you only want to change the sylink file then contact with technical support to getting the latest sylink replacer tool (For SEPM 12.1).

    Secondly, in this case could you run the SylinkReplacer 12.1 Utility (available from Symantec Technical Support)

    For SylinkReplacer 12.1 Utility, you would have to Create a Case with Symantec Technical Support.

    Hi

    Please make sure of the following

    1. Simple File sharing is disabled.

    2. Admin C$ is shared.

    3. UAC is disabled if Windows 7 / Windows 2008.
