This is for SEP clients. Do you have SEP installed? If on 12.1.2 you can use the SEPM to do this. See here:

Hi Brian,

as of now we are just using SNAC. the reason for this is the SNAC server has already 7k clients and the machine is not capable to handle additional clients. a new VM was created with much greater specs.

So there is no other way to point the clients to the new SNAC management server?

yes, use the sylink replacer. The agent is same for SEP and SNAC. note that Sylink repalcer for SEP 11 and SEP 12 are different.

What version are you on? I believe sylink replacer for 12.1 requires a call to support to get it

yes, sylink replacer can be run from one of the machine, however you need to have credentails for replacing sylink on remote machine.

you will get th steps to way to do it from tech support.

what would i use then? sylink replacer for 11.x to transfer 11.x SNAC clients to 12.1 SEPM?

Or the sylink replacer for 12.1 RU2 to transfer 11.x SNAC clients to the 12.1 SEPM?

the sylink replacer is specific for SEP client version. If you using SEP 11 client use Sylink replacer for 11. and similarly for SEP 12

i see pete

since we are using SNAC 11.6 clients, I will use the sylink replacer for SNAC/SEP.

But still I can use this sylink replacer to point the clients to the 12.1 management server.

am i getting that right?

yes, copy the sylink from SEPM 12. then using Sylink replacer 11 to copy the sylink files on SEP 11 clients. Once clients gets the new sylink , it will start reporting to SEPM 12.

thanks pete!

im thinking this scenario,

server 1, SQL database 1

server 2, SQL database 2

Would there be complications if the 11.6 SNAC clients pointed to the 12.1 server?

Would they be upgraded to 12.1 or they will still be 11.6? If they are upgraded or retained, the policies from the new server will take effect right?

Or is it advisable that the old server be upgrade to 12.1 before i do the sylink replacer for 12.1 clients?
