After renaming sem5.log , it is working!

Hi

In the services, of sepm database , I selected " allow service to interact with the desktop" and I got this error pasted

And after renaming the sem5.log  to old and creating it again as given solution by Arvind , it is temporarily started. But my serious doubt is it happened with SEPM 11 and now after few weeks of sepm 12 installation , it is recurring again

And moreover I opened the SEPM , it is still on the process of opening the HOME page of it ...... "loading" is continously displayed

Thanks & Regards

Hello,  \ This is database

Hello,

\

This is database error.

Looking at the scm logs ... U need to run the manger server configuration wizard which would help synch the DB to the SEPM.

Start > Programs > SEPM > Manger server coniguration wizard.

2) Run the upgrade.bat

Upgrade.bat would be present in \\SEPM\bin

Restart the SEPM and Embedded database services.

This is a new installation!

Hi

This is a new installation just one week passed after it without any problem.

Then how it got corrupted and I did an exhaustive scandisk of the SEPM server and found there is no problem in the hard disk

Thanks & Regards

Could you please run dbvalidator tool.

You will find it under tools folder. Logs will be generated under tomcat\apache\logs

Try these steps

Hello,

Here are few steps, please try the same and let us know if that resolves the issue:

  1. Stop  Symantec Embeded Database and Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager Services in the services.msc

  2. Go to "C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\db\" and rename sem5.log to sem5.log.old

  3. Click Start, click on Run and Type “CMD” then click OK

  4. In the Command Prompt type: "CD C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\ASA\win32\" and press Enter this will change directories to the folder containing dbsrv11.exe.

  5. Force the recreation of sem5.log. Type: dbsrv11 -f "C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\db\sem5.db" and press Enter

  6. Click Start, click on Run and Type “services.msc” then click OK and start the Symantec Embedded Database Service

  7. Start the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager service.

  8. If it stays started then go ahead and log into the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager and everything should now be working properly

  9. If the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager service fails to start then run Management Server Configuration Wizard in order to log in to the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager.

Hope that helps!!
