Symantec 12 blocking connectivity to Linux Squid proxy
Created: 22 Mar 2012 | 3 comments
Hi
I have a Windows Server 2003 server which is running my Internet filtering application. I also have a Linux based Squid proxy running on the same network, which was working perfectly well.
A couple of weeks ago, I upgraded my Symantec from version 11.0.5 to version 12.1. Since then, I have been getting alot of connectivity blocked by Symantec Endpoint Protection from the server to Linux box and vice versa.
I need a solution as soon as possible if someone else has done this before.
Looking forward to your responses!
Regards,
Brendan

is NTP installed? do you see logs of blocked connection? if yes, check the rule and enable it.
Cheers!

You say you have 2 internet filtering devices (proxies) on the network. 1 is in Windows and 1 is Squid Proxy. How are your clients connecting to these devices?
WPAD? Static proxy settings? Network Auto-discovery?
What about port information? Are both of your proxies using the same port information or are they using different ports?
Separate VLANs? Subnets?
Are all your clients having this issue or just the server?
Please add more information...
Did 12.1 manage to get your legacy old firewall/ips policies ?
