  • 1.  Symantec 12.1.2 (RU2) client on 12.1 (RU1) SEPM

Hello. I'm doing some testing with Symantec's latest release 12.1.2 (RU2) to ensure it's functionality with Windows 8. Can a management console still on 12.1 (RU1) manage the RU2 client? And if so, is the same method for making it a managed client on Windows 8 the same as it was in Windows 7 with replacing the sylink.xml?

    Thanks.

Yes, you can managed a newer client with an older SEPM version although it's not recommended

SEP 12.1 RU2 Windows clients can be managed by any SEPM of version 12.1 or higher. SEP 12.1 RU2 Windows clients cannot be managed by SEPM 11.x.

Yes, just replace the sylink file as you would normally

yes, i have seen SEPM 12.1 Ru1 managing SEP 12 RU 2 client.

SEP 12.1 RU2 Windows clients can be managed by any SEPM of version 12.1 or higher.

Does anybody have any idea why I would receive a permission error on the config folder where the sylink.xml file is located? Already an administrator on the PC of course.

Do you happen to know if on a 12.1. RU1 Manager if you can deploy a 12.1 RU2 installation package from it? Or can you only deploy the RU2 package from an RU1 manager??

    Thanks.
