On April 30, 2011 Symantec will cease publishing virus definitions for SAV 9.x and SCS 2.x

This end of publication means that no quality assurance will be done on a SAV 9.x and SCS 2.x clients for any definition package and that the AV engine will no longer function on Windows 9.x and Windows NT platforms.

Those who still use those products are strongly recommended to migrate to newer products

I strongly encourage any customers still using SAV 9 to migrate to SAV 10.1 MR10 or to SEP as soon as possible.  SAV 9 was a fine product when it was released in 2004, but technology has changed a great deal over those years.  SAV 9 is not designed to offer protection against today's sophisticated threats.  (Or, to put it another way: those who create today's threats know SAV 9's capabilities and limitations well, and write their code accordingly.)

The official end of support life (EOSL) for SAV 9 was two years ago today.  To ensure the safety of your network, please do act now to safely migrate any computers still using SAV 9 to a supported product that offers more comprehensive protection.

    Thanks and best regards,

    Mick

    Hi Vikram.

According to the screenshot below, our NT4 servers using an internal LiveUpdate server are still updating. Interesting indeed.
