Comparison about Symantec Brightmail Gateway.. Any advantages and disadvantages of the products?

I am not very aware of this product, but from their website it looks like it is more similar to our Mail Security products for Exchange and Domino that install on the mail server. It does not look like a gateway product that sits between the outside world and your Mail Server.

Their Sophos Email Appliances look more like the Brightmail Gateway. What I cannot see is if they offer virtualization of this product, like we do for the Brightmail Gateway. This makes it much easier for customers to maintain the hardware with their chosen vendor and have multiple appliances on the same physical machine and integrating it into their existing virtual environment which has become very popular.

Agree, PureMessage is a mail server add-on.  Which Symantec also sells.  It's not a gateway product.

The do have a encrypted mail solution - encrypted PDFs.  This is different than the TLS Brightmail provides.
