    Hi Guys,

Is it possible for Symantec Email Encryption to encrypt and decrypt files if using only Webmail? If possible, can I have the configuration for this one?

    Thanks and regards,

    N

    Hi,

Webmail will not work for SED unfortunately, nothing gets passed to the program for encryption/decryption. If it's standalone that is.  If you have a universal server depending on the placement Outlook Web Access will be encrypted, and Symantec .cloud offers a boundary encryption service which would enable web-based email to be encrypted, but if you're referring to hotmail or gmail, the answer is no.

You can send encrypted attachments however, you just drag the file onto the SED program or use the right click encrypt options then just attach that normally

Depending on the webmail service, you may be able to successfully use the Current Window option for encryption and decryption.  I'm a Windows 7 user and would do this by typing the webmail message, right clicking on PGPtray (the PGP icon in the Windows notification area), selecting Current Window, and then Encrypt.  The same process can be done for Decrypt.  It might be necessary to first select the text before going to PGPtray.  The big potential problem from using this procedure is that if your webmail provider rewraps your line length after it has been encrypted, it might corrupt the encryption package.
