Symantec Email Proxy error 1003 9
Created: 13 Dec 2012 | Updated: 13 Dec 2012 | 3 comments
Nearly every time I tried to send an email message I would get this error (Symantec Email Proxy error 1003 9) on both of my PCs, one was using MS Outlook, the other was using MS Outlook Express.
I made a setting change in Outlook and Outlook Express that has eliminated my problem on both PCs.
Under the email "Account" settings I checked the box for "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)".
I made this change on both PCs about a week ago, and both have sent messages perfectly since that time.

Hello,
Thank you for updating us on this Issue.
Checking what program is using common mail ports (performing a netstat -ao from the command line to learn what process is communicating on port 25) is often the best first step.
Check this Article: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH122425
You could also try to change the port for this application.
OR
Possible if you could go for a certificate which can be inserted within email which can ensure that the email is secure? Like Digital Id's
OR
Install Email Security Software like Symantec Mail security for Exchange which should assist you.
Also, check this Thread:

Hope that helps!!
