  • 1.  Symantec Encryption Desktop 10.3.0 MP3 stuck at 100%

    I have re-encrypted a PGP 10.0.1 encrypted hard disk with Symantec Encryption Desktop 10.3.0 MP3 and now it is stuck at 100%

    I can see that there is only two pgpwde files in the root of the hard disk. Other encrypted hard disks have three pgpwde files.

    How do I complete encryption? I have tried to stop and resume.

    Sometimes PGP/SED will fail to show the progress of the disk encryption, despite the WDE actually taking place.  I'd suggest using the command line usage in this Knowledge Base Article to check the actual WDE status: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH149679

    Here is the WDE status:

    Disk 5 is instrumented by bootguard.
      Encryption process interrupted by user request
      Current key is valid.
    Drive encrypted
      Total sectors: 3907026944 highwatermark: 3907026942 reserved start sectors: 2

    Request sent to Disk status was successful

    This confirms that you disk is fully encrypted.

    OK. But the user interface is still paused at 100% and I can click on resume and type the password and then nothing happens.

    Also "stop" and "resume" from the command line does nothing.

    I still need to re-encrypt 3 hard drives.

    Thanks for the link but the hard drive is still paused from the user interface. I have a desktop computer that never enters hibernate or standby mode.

    @Chrisjen as per Tom request can you confirm that you in fact follow the steps as written in KB TECH175378 from the command line in the correct order.

    1. Run the command PGPWDE --disk 0 --stop -p <passphrase> and press Enter.

          2.  Then type PGPWDE --disk 0 --resume -p <passphrase> and press Enter. 

    If you run this from command line in the right order as above this should resume the interface.

    Are you able to send a screenshoot from above commands including also additional commands so

    pgpwde --enum
    pgpwde --show-config

     

    If still not work I would suggest running re-enrollment process http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO42029 and see if the interface is still stucked.
