  • 1.  Symantec Endpoint 12.1 - Over License Count

    Quick question...

     

    I we are over our allotted license count for Endpoint 12.1, are we/still protected?  In other words, do the clients continue to get updates from the MGMT Console?

    for enterprise, you will still be receiving the content updates.

    however you should be buying more licenses if the number of clients are more than the licenses bought.

    Hi,

    It depends upon product version.

    Types of enforcement

    When the license goes out of compliance the Symantec Endpoint Protection product goes into enforcement mode. There are two types of enforcement

    1)  Hard Enforcement: SEP 12.1 Small Business Edition

    • Content update downloads stop for both server and clients.In Small Business Edition it's 1:1 mapping with CAT server.
    • UI changes and log notifications are started.

    2)  Soft Enforcement: SEP 12.1 Enterprise Edition

    •  Content update downloads continue from all the sources.
    •  UI changes and log notifications are started.

    i have read your SEP 12.1 and License Concept, Types of enforcement shows what will customer can continue use.

    And i want know what will happen when customer license expired , i mean what function cannot work when customer license expired.

    are you using enterprise?

    then you will start receving notification and alert. the other functionality will keep on working

    Yes , enterprise edition

     

     the other functionality will keep on working

    Those function include the client connect to SEPM , get SEPM policy, get signatrue form SEPM or Liveupdate , Right?

    if you are aware that it has expired, you should be renewing the licesnse immediately.
