  • 1.  Symantec Endpoint 12.1 (RU5) clone prep tool not working on 64-bit machines

    The latest clone prep tool referenced in this KB article was recently updated because it was not working with v 12.1 (RU5).

    The 32-bit tool is now working properly on 32-bit machines, but causes problems on 64-bit machines. In the past, running the tool via Group Policy worked fine.

    The scripting options listed in the articles as a manual workaround are not an option because we need to send this out to a number of computers that have been renamed and are no longer reporting to the SEPM console. The * values in step 1 have to be specified, which is fine when running manually on an individual computer, but not for sending out to numerous machines with various user names.

    We need a clone prep tool that works on the 64-bit installations.

    I have not - I've been following the KB that stated when the clone prep tool that works for 12.1.5 was available, it will be linked there - and it was. I've been following forum discussions including the steps for resetting the identifiers manually, and others where support was contacted.
