Symantec Endpoint Client 11 not getting definition updates from live update site.

    I have symantec enpoint clients which require updated definitions. Client version is SEP 11.x, the client is configured to get updates from the SEPM server and Live update site, however,SEP 11.x is out of date and I would like the client to get updates from the live update site till i can upgrade to SEPM 12.x.

     

    If I click live update, it still does not pull down any updates, however, if I download the intelligent updater, this will update the definitions. This is a problem since I have a lot of clients which require updates.

     

    How would I force each client from the SEPM server to get there updates from the live update site?

    SEP 11.x is end of support life and no longer receives definitions. You need to move to SEP 12.1 as soon as possible. SEPM 11.x no longer gets defs to give to the clients. Any defs that do come across for 11.x at this point are untested and not supported.

    Thank you, another question. I have the SEPM is using the embeded Data Base not SQL, the console is creating problems on running reports. 

     

    Is there a command line I can use to see how many clients there are attached to the parent SEPM server?

     

    I appreciate any help!!

    No command line options exist. You would need to query the DB directly to pull info like this.

    Thank you Brian I will get some querys on the web for my needs. I need to get a count of connected clients to SEPM server.

    You can have to add the feature auto upgrade to upgrde your client in 12.x to use the proper feature of SEP.

    After the upgradation you can configure the notification to find the unmanage client which is not be running through SEPM

    I tried to upgrade my old Vista machine:

    - Symantec does not recognize my product serial number.

    - Contacting Symantec, they do not recognize my product number (11.0.2000.1567) thus I cannot get in contact with support

     

    What is the solution? Maybe de-installation of Symantec product and choosing an alternative with an adequate customer support?

    SEP 11.x is end of support life, hence why you're not getting support for it.

    I don't know where you got your install but you need to get a valid serial number for the 12.1 product and install that.

    Hi Brian, thanks a lot for your quick reply. The serial number is mentioned in the renewal notice which was on Oct. 31st 2014 and for one year ahead. I suppose that I do not need to purchase a new license for version 12.1?

    Do you see the 12.1 install? If so, then you're entitled to it.
