Symantec Endpoint Encryption Device Control and Blackberrys

Hello,

I wonder if you could help me with a query I have.  We currently use Blackberry devices configured via our BES and are using Symantec Endpoint Encryption Device Control to lock down external devices such as unsecured USB memory sticks, digital cameras, etc.

Endpoint is locking down access to photos stored on Blackberry SD cards, do you know of a way in which Endpoint can be configured so that only BES-connected Blackberry devices can access the contents of the SD card?

Would appreciate any advice you can offer.

Thanks

Dan

Blackberrys will only be

Blackberrys will only be encrypted when mass storage is switched on.

The contents will only be encrypted if your policy is set to encrypt all data on the drive.

The things to try would be to see if SEE Device Control lists all blackberrys as a common device, it could then be excluded.

or

Change your policy only to encrypt new files added to the device - this would mean anything that is already on the USB device would remain un-encrypted

or

Put an exclusion in your policy not to encrypt pictures (this can also be selected to videos and audio files as well).  Your pictures would not be encrypted then.

I'm afraid not

As far as the funtionality within SEE-DC goes, you are stuck with either allowing all Blackberries or whitelisting each individual Blackberry in your estate.

There is no way to say "Whitelist only the Blackberries managed by our BES"
