Symantec Endpoint Encryption - Full Disk 7.0 / MS SQL 2005 Express - Installation Issues

Not sure if this is the right forum for this, but I didn't see a separate section for Symantec Endpoint Encryption 7.0.

As far as I can tell, I am meeting the installation prerequisites from the Install Guide.  I am running into errors while trying to create the initial database, as well as creating the client administrator account to create the framework and full disk client installation packages. Google searches don’t offer a great deal of help except for this:

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security....

The proposed solution is not fixing my problem.

I am using MSSQL 2005 Express w/ Advanced Options.  I have TCP/IP and Named Pipe Connections enabled as well as mixed-mode SQL authentication.

Thanks for any help,

dwhite

Symantec Endpoint Encryption - Full Disk 7.0 / MS SQL 2005 Expre

Hi dwhite

I am having the same issue.  Did you make any progres with this ?  I have Win2003 R2, SP2 w/ SQL 2005 express advanced options. Tried it with SQL SP2 and SP3, same problem. Followed the instructions to the letter.  I get errors when trying to create the first client administrator account. e.g. Error occurred: Index array out of bounds, Error occurred: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.  Methinks Symantec is trying to release this software too quickly, with QA processes lacking...

bdabye - The Index array out

bdabye -

The Index array out of bounds error is most commonly caused by having Internet Explorer 8 installed, this will need to be uninstalled and put Internet Explorer 7 back on as there were ASP changes made in IE8 that cause the problem you're seeing.

whose post is this ? :) what are we going to answer? :D

To Dwhite:
So you tried deleting the user from the Logins and tried a complex password?

If so remove complex password policy of the SQL instance (use a separate instance if there is anyhing installed in the default instance).
Make sure your SQL installation is not case sensitive.
Make sure Collation (Locale) of the database is Latin1.

I hope these help.
