Hi Dude,
Please follow the below steps..
1) Go to Settings> Control Panel> Administrative tools >Data Source [ODBC] select System DNS > Double Click SymantecEndpointPointSecurityDSN Click on login tab In User ID type " dba " In password type the SEPM console login password " symantec " [we use symantec as password]
2) Click on Databse Tab > In server name type FQDN of the SEP server [In our case we use workgroup so enter only machine name " poinmspatch2k3 " ] In Databse name type " SEM5 "
3) Go to Network Tab > Select TCP/IP and type " host=172.25.x.x " [IP address of the server] Click on Test Connection button and it will display “ Connection succeeded ”
4) Now go to IIS > Expand Application Pools > Select DefaultApppool > Right Click on DefaultAppPool > Properties > Go to Identity Tab > Select the Predifined option > Bydefault it is having Network Service > Change it to Local System > Click on apply > it will prompt for a message >Click yes.Close the IIS window.
5) Go to start > Run > type IISRESET. It will restart the IIS services Now try to login to the SEPM with the username and password and it will work now.

You aren't running the Mr2, Isn't it?
Anyway, Start with this.
De facto when AV does something, it starts jumping up and down, waving its arms, and shouting "Hey! I found a virus! Look at me! I'm soooo goooood!"
Hi Sam_Shaikh,
thanks for the steps.i followed but i got "Connection failed:database not found".
Under database tab ->database name:sem5
->database file:C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\db\sem5.db .
One more thing,i selected custom web site for IIS and default symantec database during setup.
anything i can check?
Thankss
Hi sam_shaikh,
finally,i able to get ODBC “ Connection succeeded ”.However i still encounters the same issue. I have reinstalled IIS and SEPM but no help..Please kindly alighten me.thankss..
Hi,

hi sam,
i reinstalled using default website & edit the GPO but issue persist.Anything i can check? Home page still show "The webpage require to logon HTTP403".
i suspect it is permission issue..but not too sure where to assign the permission..any solutions?thanks alots.
hi sam,
do u know which file is used to load home, monitor & reports pages?

Please keep your certificate ready as they will ask you the details in certificate.

if you are being prompted to logon when you login to SEPM, do you have anonymous access enabled in IIS?

hi paul,
it shows "The webpage declined to show this webpage HTTP 403 This error (HTTP 403 Forbidden) means that Internet Explorer was able to connect to the website, but it does not have permission to view the webpage."
i find it's strange...i installed SEPM on VMWare running W2K3 and it's working(fresh installation). somehow, thie production server wont work..very headache..
Compare your permissions from the VM to the non-working SEPM on the following folders:
C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Inetpub
C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Inetpub\Reporting

hi paul,
both permissions are the same.I can logon to reporting at VM but not for non working SEPM server.
any more solutions?Thanks
hi paul,
is it necessary to restart the server after installation of SEPM? FYI,i did not restart.
ahtshun,
This looks a lot like an issue I was having. Try this link:
https://forums.symantec.com/syment/board/message?board.id=endpoint_protection11&thread.id=6584&view=by_date_ascending&page=2
Once I changed that setting to "local system" and restarted, I was able to see the contents of those 3 tabs. Hope this helps.
hi all,
finally i managed to solve my issue.I installed SEPM to a member server instead of on DC controller.i guess because of security issue with the DC..
BTW,thank you for all your assistance..
The fix:
Adminstrative Tools > Data Sources (OBDC) > System DSN > Configure > Database > Server Name
fixed my problem to the "Unable to communicate with reporting component" error message.
on our
Dell PowerEdge SC1430
PDC Windows 2003 Server SBS R2 SP2
w/ SQL Server 2005

I had a similar issue. Under IE, select Connections, Lan Settings, check the Bypass proxy server for local addresses.
In my situation uninstalling Java solved the issue.
Install java again by connecting to default SEPM website.
