  • 1.  Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 and Exchange mail scanning

    Hi

    I have purchesed Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 for my client PCs.

    I know when installing on the 2011SBS it wil add the exceptions required for Exchnage 2010 but will it also scan email for SPAM and viruses?

    Or do i need to purchase something else?

    SEP 12.1 will add the necessary exclusions for Exchange

    About the automatic exclusion of files and folders for Microsoft Exchange server and Symantec products

    SEP also has an Exchange email plugin which will scan email for viruses

    How effective is Antivirus Email protection (Outlook/ Notes Scanner) with Symantec Endpoint Protection ?

    SEP only protects the OS from threats, and does not scan emails themselves.  For email scanning you'll need something like the below products:

    (Note that SEP also puts automatice exclusions for this product too)

    For teh protection of Email onthe Exchange server you require a different product - Mail Security For Exchange
