This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi,

I am having some issue on SEP client installation. Initial installation of SEP client on the PC was successful. However, I accidentally clicked on the SEP client installation again and it started installation but it hang without finishing. I clicked on cancel but it start again immediately. I restarted the PC and once PC restarted, the installation will start again. It seems to run an infinite loop even when SEP client have already been installed.

Is there any way or any place I can clear the cache of the installation so that it will not start once I restart? Currently I have disable the msiexec using "msiexec /unregserver" so that the installation did not prompt up. But once I enabled it, it will prompt up again.

Any idea? Please give some advice. Thanks.

Regards,
Low

Uninstall client using

Uninstall client using cleanwipe (you can get this from symantec support team) and install once again...

Hi

You can try this
open services.msc
find windows installer service.
right click and click on properties.
make the status to disabled.
now kil all the msiexec.exe from task manager.
or cmd prompt
taskill /f /im msiexec.exe
reboot the box.
restart the windows installer it should be fine.
it might try to do  a repair after that it should be fine.

 in MSconfig uncheck SEP on

in MSconfig uncheck SEP on startup (ccApp)

Set the value for Symantec service to disabled.
Restart the machine
Un-install SEP from Add/Remove Programs.
Reboot the machine and re-run the install.

AravindKM - Does 'cleanwipe'

AravindKM
- Does 'cleanwipe' need to be installed on the PC before I can run and use it? I have actually tried 'Windows install clean up' but was not able to use it since the window installer is already running the SEP client installation. It would need to end it first before another window installer to run. Unfortunately, the window installer is tied to SEP client installation so I would not be able to run others installation and uninstallation.

Rafeeq
- The steps did not work and the doc steps also did not work for me. Once windows installer is enabled again, it starts installation again. Even stopping the SEP services, the installation is still running.

Vikram Kumar
- Even when the service is disabled, the installation is still running so uninstallation would not be able to proceed.

Thanks for the comment. Any other alternatives?

clean wipe is not an

clean wipe is not an installation program, it is a removal tool
Just run it
it will remove the corrupted installation of SEP
As a best practice keep the network driver of you pc  with you because cleanwipe may corrupt it....
