    Hi,

    I have 2 queries:

    1. Can Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) client function as a standalone? Meaning it is connected to niether a SEP Server (as of now I only want to test/evaluate the client) nor internet (security reasons). The only way for it to update its virus definition is for someone to download it from the internet and update the client via a removable media e.g. thumbdrive.

    2. Where can I download Symantec Endpoint Protection Client Installation for trial purposes? I tried googling "Symantec Endpoint Protection Client Installation" but only got the Intelligent Updater which I do not think is what I am looking for.

    Regards

go to https://fileconnect.symantec.com ; put the serial number; download the CD1 or you can download the trial version here

    Hi,

You can install SEP as a standalone make sure you are aware of this.

SEP has three feature i) Antivirus & Antispyware ii) Proactive threat protection(PTP) iii) Network Threat Protection (NTP)

If you are planning to upgrade manually then you will have to use Intelligent updater.

But intelligent updater can only update Antivirus and Antispyware. For PTP & NTP you must have connection either with SEP server or Internet or Live update administrator (LUA)

You can get the Symantec Protection Suite Enterprise Edition Trial Edition here

At this location you will get SEP 12.1.

Are you looking for SEP 11 or SEP 12.1

SEP 12.1 is the latest Antivirus product by Symantec.

    Till date SEP releases

Thanks for the quick reply. I have been to the webby links you sent me... but they require downloading the whole SEP Server which is 1.4GB. I am hoping for just the client installation.

You need to download entire CD1

once downloaded you will find the folder SEP; open that and run the setup.exe...

I was hoping I do not need to download/install the server... I just want the client. Ok I will try it out and update here when work starts next week. Thanks =)
