I am agree with Sam. Most probably you have old version of SEP. So first thing you should try is to update to SEP11MR4(MP1a).
Check on client side: Help and Support->About
For SEP11MR4 version is 11.0.4000.2295

This looks like the same issue that existed with SAV, can you check your scan log and see if there is alot of scan omissions or decompression errors.
If there is decompresor errors you need to add exceptions, what SAV and SEP does is extract the files out to these files for scanning; Problem is something screws up during the process and you end up with many of these files that max at 2gb and create more.
Thanks

Though I am an HP Employee, ALL of my posts express MY opinion and not that of HP.
Hi Michael, Its known issues
Hi Michael,
Its known issues with older version of SEP.
Hence Symantec strongly suugests to upgrade to latest version and then check the same.
Incase if you open a case with symantec, they will dfinately ask you to first upgrade the same to latest version.

I have the same issue with this, and understand why it uses these files for zip extraction. My question is, is it possible to redirect where symantec keeps these.
My problem, is that we have servers (virtual machines) that need to be replicated over a wan link, and this impacts our change rate too much. We can install symantec to another drive and exclude that volume from replication, but that doesn't affect the all users profile that Symantec uses. There are other things we need to have replicated in the "all users" profile, so we can't just move the entire folder.
We have a couple of ways to do this, but they are both undesireable:
mount a new volume in the all users profile (instead of giving a drive letter) for symantec, and copy the files over.
move the "all users" profile, and set up some sort of script to copy back to the C: partition the things we need to have replicated.
I won't explain why these are undesireable, hopefully that is pretty obvious.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
Mike
