  • 1.  Symantec Endpoint Protection firewall problem with internet

    Hello,

     

    I applied the default firewall policy with block local sharing for one group, today i get problem with one client that when he connect with 3G modem the internet not working but when i move it to another group without firewall policy, it working fine, so there is anyway to apply the firewall and can access internet with 3G modem?

    hi,

    what sep version are you using currently ?

    this issue resolved on 12.1 RU2 MP1

    Systems are unable to connect to the network using 3G USB cards after installing Symantec Endpoint Protection firewall
    Fix ID: 2949361
    Symptom: Certain USB 3G cards require the configuration of extensive protocols to allow network traffic to pass through the firewall.
    Solution: Updated Teefer to allow for traffic missing certain header components to be processed.

    New fixes and features in Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 Release Update 2 Maintenance Pack 1

    After upgrading to 12.1.3 the 3G moden working fine but the still the same issue with the wireless connect.

    check the logs see what rules are blocking the client access!

    if you find one allow the access!

    Check in the Traffic log on the SEP client.

    You need to find out what firewall rule is blocking the traffic - it is possible the traffic logs won't show that - in this case enabled the SEP debug with Advanced TSE Debug according to article http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH102412  - and this will show you exactly what traffic has been blocked and by what condition.

    HI, 

    You can find out which firewall rule is causing this issue from SEPM and create exceptions for the same and apply on the machines and keep posted the outcomes.

    Its not firewall issue, you have to check may be like some application control setting.
