  • 1.  Symantec Endpoint protection kernel protection halts services?

Hello, we have upgraded to Symantec 11 Endpoint protection and as an extra layer of protection the Endpoint protection now detects changes in the kernel so a warning message is provided at next login. This makes sense but a legitimate tampering with the kernel is the Microsoft Monthly patch update and the other day a user complained that a server did not respond to service requests until he confirmed OK for the warning message and then the functionality should have been restored.

I was under the impression that this warning was simply an informational message that should not halt any services until confirmation so is this actually the case or was it a simply a misunderstanding of the user? Thanks!

This is one odd instance when the user was prompted, generally the services are restored automatically. Its possible that the server must be busy with some request due to which this error appeared. In case you see this again please send us a screenshot and if possible the relevant entries in the Event Viewer.
