Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition

  • 1.  Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager

    AFter I've installed protection manager on a Windows XP Pro - SP3 pc... and logged to the management console - I dont see the option for "Install packages" under Admin...

    Surely its not a limitation /compatibility issue with Symantec protection manager and XP pro -

     

    Any ideas/suggestion./help is more than welcomed - Its been 3 days since I am trying to sort this one out sad

    Hi,

    Are you using Enterprise Edition or Small Business Edition ?

    If you are using Small Business Edition then it's by design.

    If you are using Enterprise Edition then troubleshooting is required.

    HI chetan,

     

    thanks for your time - it is indeed small business edition - but does that mean we cannot customise installation packages using small business edition ?

    Actually dont see any reason why one with small business edition would have this disabled - does not make much sense - i mean does not mean if one has 4-5 pcs in a network will have lesser requirements in terms of customising what needs installing.

    There are two Small Business Editions & those are

    SEP 12.0 Small Business Edition

    SEP 12.1 Small Business Edition

    Which product you are using ?

    On right hand top corner, you will see common task, under drop down there is an option to install Protection clients on computers.

    Even though it's an SBE, you can still use the feature of deployment from the Clients tab also by click on "Add a Computer" which would take you through the same wizard.

    hi thanks for your comments on the issue...

    My concern was more with regards to the install package option which seems to be available only in enterprise edition - as thru this section you can customise intall feature sets  - I was looking for something similar on SBE - when it wasnt there.  Although this is not a big issue - i still dont understand the rationale behind turning this off in SBE.
