Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager installed on remote PC logs in, starts to load, then goes back to login screen

It was working fine, then we did an update, and now it no longer works on my PC. It works fine on the server and on other PCs. The version of the SEP Manager is 11.0.5002.333. I thought I had it nailed down to being something wrong with my Windows profile (and maybe it still is). I tried re-creating my Windows profile, and it did let me login yesterday, but now I am back to where it will accept my username and password (not using Active Directory integration, by the way), it starts to load the manager, then goes back to the login screen. I see others have had this problem, too, so will continue searching for an answer but hoping someone will see this post and give me some ideas of things to try. Other things I have tried are uninstalling Java and SEP Manager completely, tried various versions of Java, too. Tried resetting IE settings and making the SEP server a trusted site. The version of Java that is downloaded by going to http://<server name>:9090/symantec.html is Version 6 Update 14. Any help greatly appreciated!

Info

Greetings,

You mention you did an update and now it fails, what was the update?

Are you able to login locally to the Manager?

There was an update done on the SEPM, I am not sure exactly what, but it would have been a minor upgrade within version 11 (we were already on version 11 and just updated to a newer version of 11). The SEP Manager works fine on the server itself and on other PCs, just not on my PC.

Working again

I ended up just re-creating my Windows profile again, and it is working again.

I logged on as a different user on my PC, and made sure SEP Manager would load.

Rebooted, logged in as another different user, copied the profile of the 2nd user into default user, renamed my profile to something else. Logged in as me and it worked (at least for now). I will let you know if it quits working again.

not working again...

It worked for a day, now it is back to doing the same thing as before. You put your user name and password in, click Log On, it comes up with "Logging on to the Management Server", then switches to "Loading" and you can see the icons on the left side (Home, Monitors, Reports, Policies, Clients, Admin). Then it goes back to the login screen. No matter how many times you try logging in, same result. I'm quite sure I could re-create my Windows profile and it would work again for another day. Any ideas? SEPM works fine on other PCs and on the server itself. It would be a pain to reload my PC from scratch but that is about the only other thing I can think to try.

I've tried that multiple times without success. What I have found is if I login with a different Windows user, then it will work. It seems to be something in the Windows profile that is causing this problem.

Then try to delete your

Then try to delete your profile from the computer & re-login with your user name & password this will re-create the profile then try to login to the server.

This may help.. :-)

The try to delete

Yes, I have already tried this, and it will fix it for a short time. I take it you have no idea what could be getting changed in my Windows profile. I don't either so will just try loading another PC.

Add the SEPM Server

Add the SEPM Server IP address in your client Host file.

I had this happen when we

I had this happen when we moved to MR4MP2 a few months back.
Uninstalling the SEP Management console from Add/remove programs and then reolading from http://server:9090/symantec.html did the trick.

One other thing to try if you are having problems is to uninstall the management console then delete folders related to the SEP console under the C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\ folder. You can also empty this cache from the Java Control panel. You'll likely have to reinstall the console after this as well.

Driving me crazy!

So I loaded up a totally new PC, and SEPM worked great for two days. Now it is back to doing the same thing again. Makes absolutely no sense to me. I have tried everything everyone here has suggested with no luck. All I know for certain is it has something to do with my Windows profile. If I log in as a different Windows user, it will work. If I delete my profile (out of C:\Documents and settings) and log in to Windows so that it is re-created, SEPM will work. For a day or so, then the same problem will re-surface.

FIX Anyone?

Has anyone found a fix for this yet?  I tried uninstalling Java, SEPM.  I deleted the files in Application data, tried on different comupters, deleted profiles and recreated and I cannot get passed this issue not even for a day.

I can get logged in successfully from a remote machine for a second.. I get the LOADING... screen for a sec and then Instantanly get taken back to the Login screen again.

I am able to access this fine from the server.

Any more Ideas would be greatly appreciated.
