Hi Guys!

We use the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager webconsole on our system to manage client machines AV updates, and noticed a little while back that our admin department was getting the following error message when trying to authenticate via IE: "Unexpected Server Error" - after entering their username and domain password. The other boxs at other sites using the same details, works and login's fine

Looking on the server (which is a 2008 R2 box) all services are running - at first i did notice the Symantec Embedded Database service wasn't running. I have also added our local SVC account to the local Admin's group on the box but still no luck!! Also replctaing any settings from the working box's also produced no luck and still this dreaded  "Unexpected Server Error"

Rebooting the box twice used to resolve this issue, but now no luck at all!

Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated!

Symantec embedded DB service is stopped? if thats stopped  you wont be able to log in.

Can you check if you have enough space on C drive and also the size on Sem5.log?

Rafeeq: The Sem5.log id about 576KB, and, our data is on a Second Drive (D:\) and has over 45.2GB free space

.Brian - can you advise where that help tool is - noob here 

Does locally accessing working (SEPM Server ) ?

Seems to be a low disk issue. If thats not the case, post the catalina.out and scmserver0.log from program files\SEPM\tomcat\logs folder

I posted a link on running the symhelp tool as well as debugging the SEPM.

 can't read local server from database! because the databse service is stopped, you need to get tht up ..

Try a repair from add/remove programs,

run management server config wizard, oh yeah check the size on the disk.

Thank you AJ_01 that fixed it, seems changing the server name from upper to lower case allowed us to connect!
