    Hello there

One of my customers who are using Symantec EndPoint Protection version 12.1.617.4971 cant update virus definitions on their computers. I already did a force run by right clicking on the computer and clicking on "Update Content" but no luck.

    Please see screenshot below.

    Can some one please advice?

    Thank you

    Hi,

on the affected client, collect the communication sylink.log according to:

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH102412

I am sorry to say that "Update content" command is a useless feature for troubleshooting purpose, the client executes commands as well as content updates at the next heartbeat without any manual action, if there is a connectivity isssue or anything broken, "update content" does not fix or workaround it. It is much better to execute "update policies" on the client to trigger the communication while recording it with the sylink.log instead of waiting a full heartbeat.

This may well be in issue on your SEPM Server.  The clients you have shown all have a recent check-in, so they're communicating with the server.

Please check out the below article to investigate, and let us know how you get along.

    Hey Guys

Just updating my thread. What I did is, I re-installed SEMP with the latest version and re-deployed client installation file. Lucky me this organization is small, so it wasn't that much trouble.

Thanks again your time and help.

    Hello again,

I though I'll re post to my own thread then making a new one.

So after I installed Symantec, the old problem has returned.Symantec has found computers with virus definitions older than 7 days.

Beppe I have checked your link. Does that needs to be done on a user computer? Because I tried doing it on a server and I could find SMC registry folder.

SMLatCST - your link didn't work.

    Thanks
