I'm currently working on a school laptop with pre-installed symantec endpoint protection, and the problem that the laptop is having is that a restart pop-up keeps occurring regardless of how many times the laptop shuts down / restarts. The message has

"The Symantec Endpoint Protection installation requires this computer to restart."

And then an option to remind to restart later or now.

I tried googling the problem but could not reach an answer. Is there a fix for this?

What's the exact version that you're running?

    have you attempted a repair and/or re-install?

    Hello,

What version of SEP 12.1 have you installed?

What OS is the Laptop running?

Secondly, check these Articles which may assist you -

Installer Information - "Symantec Endpoint Protection has detected that there are pending system changes that require a reboot." when trying to install SEP 11.0 on Windows 7

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH95608

System is in a reboot loop after installing Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) version 12.1

Windows installer is stuck in loop for Installing Symantec Endpoint Protection

    Hope that helps!!

Since it was pre-installed not sure if you still have the setup file with you. If you have then its good to do a complete uninstall /reinstall. When you open Symantec endpoint protection what components do you see lilke Antivirus and antispyware, sonar and NTP?

To _Brian: version 11.0.5002.333  and I do not have the original disc or else I would re-install. How do I attempt a repair?

Mithun Sanghavi: I think I am running version 11.0, and I am running Windows 7. I tried looking in the registry for PendingFileRenameOperations as your solutions suggest, but it was not there.

Rafeeq: I just see Antivirus and spyware

That is a really old version.

You need to do it thru add/remove programs in the control panel
