Symantec Endpoint Protection Slowdown

I had a question about this. I have a software that basically modifies two files constantly (files range from 100mb to 1gig in size) and my client is running Symantec endpoint protect and we have not configured any settings yet. We've noticed significant slowdowns in the system.

Q1) is endpoint auto configured to scan the network constantly?
If so, since these files are so large from 100mb to 1gig in size, would endpoint continuesly keep scanning and rescanning this file? As it constantly gets modified.

If so, can we disable this for certain programs? and the files these programs access?

Or do we specifically place exceptions on these files?

The Auto-Protect feature of

The Auto-Protect feature of SEP would be scanning the files as there were being accessed by the software package.  You could add exceptions to the two files or the folders that they are saved in.  The link below contains information on creating a centralized exception policy.

Agree

Hello,

I agree with the above comment.

The Auto-Protect would keep on Scanning this files.

In this case, what you could do is:

1) You could make the necessary changes in the Auto Protect Scan Policy, as shown below:

OR

2)  Create centralized exception

Hope that helps!!
