During every heart beat ineterval client establishes connection with SEPM, during which SEP client will report what defenition it has and request for index file which SEPM will hold with the infromation of latest available definition in SEPM, the client then requests for delta.zip (differential) or full.zip based on the difference in the content revision between SEPM and SEP. so if you have a managed client then yes everything happens automatically.

Clients are not notified when updates are ready. They are downloaded and installed silently in the background.

    Hi,

    Q. Symantec Endpoint Protection product could notify client when there are updates available for his operating system?

--> No, SEP doesn't notify client when there are updates available forOS.

Q -What are Symantec Endpoint protection minimum system requirements (ram requirements) while pc is in idle mode?(specifically for old pcs with 512MB ram and Windows XP)?

--> For SEP 512 MB of RAM (1 GB recommended), or higher if required by the operating system. Here you will find all the SEP releases system requirements info:

    Q. Has your product the utility to create Rescue Disk on its platform?

-->  There is a tool called as a SERT. The Symantec Endpoint Recovery Tool (SERT) is a bootable CD that enables you to scan and remove malware from an infected computer.

SERT is useful in situations where computers are too heavily infected for the Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) client installed upon them to clean effectively. It is also necessary against specific threats which have the ability to completely hide from Windows, or that have techniques that manipulate Windows into protecting the malicious process against Symantec Endpoint Protection's scanning and remediation components.
