Endpoint Protection

Hi There,

Last year, I was told the SEPM 11 or 12 was not ready to support Iphone and Ipad, what about now ? Is there any progress ?

As we all know, the mobile device such as IOS and Android based smartphone is getting popular and monopolized the market share, I’m a bit shocked when I was informed that they are able to support only for windows mobile and symbian OS.

May I know what is Symantec’s strategy to tackle this area ? Or….what can we(as existing SEPM customer) do to protect our user to use mobile device safely in our corporate network ? Recently I’ve attended a Kaspesky talk, they are now ON PROTECTION with all these mobile devices.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Symantec Mobile Management supports iPhone, Android, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, and Symbian devices all through a single management platform.  This is a product with features such as software deployment, management of password policies, remote wipe, and control over device features.  SMM integrates with Symantec Mobile Security products like SEPME 6. It has some security capabilities, but at this time cannot roll out an anti-malware client for iPhone, Android, and BlackBerry.

As my collegues told Iphone and Ipad are having inbuilt security..so we dont require any sepcial antivirus solution? is it right ?

Last year, Symantec released a Norton Mobile Security product for Android.  This consumer product now has somewhere around two million users.  Here's a link with more information:
