Symantec Endpoint Protection Upgrade

Created: 19 Dec 2007 • Updated: 21 May 2010 | 1 comment

We currently have the Symantec Protection Agent 5.1.6xxx & Symantec AntiVirus v9 and upwards. Does anyone know of a way to use the built in functionality of SPA 5.1 to upgrade to the new version of SEP to a new server. Alternatively is does anyone know of an upgrade path that will allow this to happen? We are unable to deploy any GPO to users and have no other means of deploying software to computers so without some kind of automatic install every PC/Laptop will need to be visited and the software upgraded. Thanks, hopefully someone's done this, i have not been able to find any documentation from Symantec myself and am really struggling on how to get this done.

you can upgrade your current SPM to SEPM and then assign the SEP client package to your SPA clients.  SEPM will quite happily manage SPA 5.1.6 clients
